I remember from my own wedding experience how stressful it was working with a bad vendor. When I started Southard Style Photography LLC, I told my wife that I would be the best photographer I can be and treat all of my clients with the upmost respect. Whether that means being available at all times for questions or by driving the groom to the ceremony when the bride was running a little late, I have always gone the extra mile. Both the Weddingwire and The Knot awards are dedicated to my clients who not only placed their trust in me, but who also helped me reach new clients through their great reviews and referrals. I had the opportunity to take advantage of the overcast skies in Austin this morning. I started walking at 6th and Congress, walked into the Warehouse District, down to Cesar Chavez and then I looped back. I love isolating the color of certain elements. I hope you enjoy them as much as I did photographing them.

I took the majority of these shots with my new iPhone 4S. It really does have an awesome camera on it. I also have a plethora of apps including Camera+, Snapseed, 100 Cameras, and PS Express. I took the capitol picture this morning before my friends showed up for their family portrait session. These birds kept circling around the Capitol, so I fired off a 3 exposure HDR on my Nikon D700 with NIkon 24-70mm lens. The photo came out great. I hope you enjoy.

A Trip To Austin

I woke up at 5:30AM and decided to head downtown to catch the sunrise. I love Austin. I love everything about Austin including the people, the food, the music, and the art. As I was walking back to my car, I noticed two other individuals with cameras on their way to take photographs. At first, I was like Hah!!! I got the better light. You should’ve gotten up earlier, but then I thought to myself. That was me 5 years ago. I wasn’t sure what I wanted or how to capture it. I respect all people who have the courage to start something new and who put their work out there for everyone to see. Whether I am shooting weddings or the city I love, it fuels my passion and fills me with happiness. Cheers to everyone who has the courage to seek happiness.
